Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a shooting where five victims, including a child and juvenile, were shot Monday in west Charlotte.

CMPD has not provided the names of these victims.

According to a statement by CMPD, shortly after 1:26 p.m., officers responded to multiple reports of shots being fired and multiple people being shot near Beatties Ford Road, Gilbert Street, Newland Road, and Holly Street.

When officers got there, they determined that a shooting incident had happened in the 2000 block of Holly Street.

CMPD said officers found an adult and a child suffering from apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. The child’s wound was a superficial graze wound to the shoulder.

Officers also located another adult and juvenile nearby who were suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Both were non-life threatening.

The four victims were transported to the hospital by Medic.

Officers were also notified that a fifth victim had arrived at an area hospital to be treated for apparent gunshot wounds from the same incident, CMPD said.

CMPD believe this incident was not a random act of violence, and that the victims and suspects knew each other.

There is not any additional threat to the community at this time, the department said.
