Learn about the life of Harriet Tubman through a solo performance and interactive workshop at the Harvey B. Gantt Center.
On Saturday, author and storyteller Carlo L’Chelle Dawson, aka Mama Lo, will lead the sessions.
Workshop attendees will:
- Participate in a storytelling experience with Harriet Tubman as a young girl, a spy in the Union army and as an abolitionist who helped enslaved Americans escape.
- Learn about the Underground Railroad, abolitionists and coded terms in songs and letters.
The event is scheduled from noon to 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $10.
