QCity Metro reporter Jalon Hill can’t wait to see “Beethoven Meets 90s,” a collaboration between Orchestra Noir and Charlotte Symphony that fuses classical music and Hip-Hop.

As for me, I’m hoping to pick up some new decor at a pop-up market.

This Weekend: Memphis Jookin’ with Lil’ Buck

Charles “Lil Buck” Riley grew up poor in Memphis, Tennessee. But he learned to street dance and has worked with the likes of Madonna and Yo-Yo Ma.

He’s even danced on the Great Wall of China.

Come Sunday, Lil’ Buck brings his Memphis Jookin’ to Charlotte’s Knight Theater.

Riley, 31, fell in love with the Memphis dance culture as a kid; he saw it as a possible way to escape poverty.

Looking back, he says: “I never knew I could take it this far… To see all that I’ve done in my life, I learned that…my dreams, they weren’t big enough.”

In this video interview (above) with Jalon Hill, Riley said he hopes his Charlotte visit will inspire young people to take a chance on their dreams, just as he did.
